Tug Driver Training

Alongside my work as a B1 mechanic, I trained to become a qualified tug driver, responsible for safely manoeuvring aircraft around taxiways, aprons, and in and out of hangars. This required completing airside security training, airside driving courses, and practical assessments to ensure I could operate confidently in high‑risk, high‑movement environments. Through this training I developed a strong understanding of airport layouts, marshalling procedures, stand operations, and safe aircraft handling.

My commitment, reliability, and attention to detail were recognised throughout the process, leading to my progression into a tug‑driver trainer role. I now help new drivers learn the skills, safety standards, and situational awareness required to move aircraft safely across the airfield, supporting smooth operations and maintaining the highest levels of airside safety.
